A seven-year old boy’s review of Treehouse of Horror #14

I think the art was very well done in this story. It was a very different style. None of the stories look like the cartoons in this comic but this story is done in black and white and the art makes the characters look like they are real humans. I thought that was cool.

Why thank you, Liam.

Treehouse of Horror #14 came out today, and I’m pretty amazed to have my name on the cover along with the likes of Glenn Fabry and Gilbert Hernandez.

A quick look inside…

Murder He Wrote

Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror #14 coming September 28 (next Wednesday)!

A month ago, I decided to draw a picture to help promote the issue. I’d been working on it on and off (mostly off…) and hurriedly finished it today when I found out the issue is coming out soon.

Here’s the press release blurb:

BART SIMPSONS TREEHOUSE OF HORROR #14
By Bongo Comics
by Hernandez, Niles & Fabry Bart Simpson spins some thrillifying chiller-diller horror stories with a little help from some of comicdom’s most innovative storytellers! First up, modern masters of horror comics Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and Glenn Fabry (Preacher) concoct a dread-filled tale of woe, when a freak solar eclipse leads to an onslaught of vampire attacks, and the people of Springfield learn that there is nothing to fear but Nosferatu himself! Then independent comic creator and magical realist Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets) re-invents one of his favorite cult films, Frankenstein Conquers the World, featuring Homer Simpson as a gluttonously destructive force of nature – so what else is new?

…Well my name isn’t there and neither is there anything about the Death Note parody but NONETHELESS, it is there, I swear.

un deux trois

1. New Yokaiden promo pic. No comment.

2. I’ve raised $445 for AIDS research. Help me reach $500 by September 21st.

3. At ComicCon.com there’s an interview with Bongo Comics head Bill Morrison with a two page preview of the Simpsons Death Note parody I penciled. On that note, here are a couple more panel previews: Ryukrusty with Bart and L-isa (who fits too well).

Okay, time to reveal what I’m doing for this Halloween’s The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror issue: I’m doing the artwork for a manga style Simpsons parody of Death Note.

Bart Simpson Comics #42, the issue I penciled a seven page story for, is coming out this Wednesday. Do pick up a copy!

I’m currently working on penciling a 15 page (!) story for this Halloween’s The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror issue. All I’ll say about it for now is: if you’re a fan of a certain manga series, you will love it.

Anime North was fun, though if you couldn’t find me there, I don’t blame you — my name was in the program, but it wasn’t on the schedule. My panel was called “Guest Artist Roundtable.” If you were there, then thank you for coming! There was a fair amount of people there… but at least 10 of the people there were my friends, and asides from them, there were only a few others. One of them remarked how difficult it was finding out from the staff members where and when to find me. There honestly wasn’t much to miss; there wasn’t a whole lot for me to say. I simply told my story, answered some questions, and drew a picture of Hamachi from Yokaiden (which I gave away).

On an interesting note, at the convention I was approached by a journalist from the Nikkei Voice, a Japanese-Canadian newspaper, who wanted to interview me. I was glad to oblige and that article is coming out later this year.

May 3rd is Free Comic Book Day. I thought my work wouldn’t be distributed, but it turns out Bongo Comics is including the infamous Too Crazy Juvenile Prankster: Bartomu! (a.k.a. the manga-style Simpsons comic) in their issue. Don’t forget to go to your local comic store and pick up this FREE comic.

Bart Simpson Comics #42 is coming out on June 25 and will feature a 7-page story I penciled.
